Warner Bros. to launch Wonder Woman 1984 marketing campaign at CCXP in Brazil

October 24, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Back in June, Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins revealed that next year’s sequel Wonder Woman 1984 would be skipping the San Diego Comic-Con, with fans having to wait until December before the studio launches the marketing campaign for Gal Gadot’s second solo outing as the Amazon Princess.

Well, it seems we now know exactly when we can expect our first look at the follow-up to the acclaimed 2017 superhero blockbuster, as Gadot has announced on Facebook that the cast and crew are heading to Brazil for CCXP 2019, which runs between Thursday December 5th and Sunday December 8th.

Specific plot details for Wonder Woman 1984 are being kept under wraps, but the movie takes place some seventy years after the original, with Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor somehow making his return and Kristen Wiig taking on the role of Diana’s arch-enemy Barbara Ann Minerva, a.ka. Cheetah.

It’s also been said that the film is not so much a straight-up sequel, but rather the next instalment of the franchise in the same way as a James Bond or Indiana Jones film.

Wonder Woman 1984 sees Gal Gadot once again leading the cast as Diana Prince alongside the returning Chris Pine (Steve Trevor), Ewen Bremner (Charlie), Said Taghmaoui (Sameer), Connie Nielsen (Queen Hippolyta), Robin Wright (General Antiope), Lisa Loven Kongsli (Menalippe), Doutzen Kroes (Venelia) and new additions Kristen Wiig (Ghostbusters) as Barbara Ann Minerva/Cheetah and Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones), Natasha Rothwell (Love, Simon), Ravi Patel (Master of None, Grandfathered) and Gabriella Wilde (Doctor Who, Poldark) in an as-yet-unrevealed roles. It is set for release on June 5th 2020.
