The MCU Spider-Man films will not be coming to Disney+

November 13, 2019 by Samuel Brace

Ricky Strauss, the head of content for Disney+, has confirmed that the Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider-Man films will not be coming to the service.

Millions of people are currently enjoying the recently launched Disney+, many of whom are Marvel fans, looking to binge some of their favourite MCU titles.

However, they won’t be able to enjoy the Sony-distributed Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home and it turns out that they won’t be coming in the future either. Confirming this to The Verge, head of content for Disney+, Ricky Strauss, said:

“We love our friends at Sony, but we don’t have any plans to have the live-action Spider-Man movies on Disney+. We will have all the Spider-Man animated shows that we did so they’ll be on there under the Marvel banner. But who knows what can happen in the future?”

So the door isn’t closed on a deal being done to bring these movies to Disney+ but it’s best not to get any hopes up. However, while you may not be able to binge all of the MCU movies, there’s still plenty of Marvel content to enjoy, with much more to come in the future.

Our friendly neighbourhood Super Hero decides to join his best friends Ned, MJ, and the rest of the gang on a European vacation. However, Peter’s plan to leave super heroics behind for a few weeks are quickly scrapped when he begrudgingly agrees to help Nick Fury uncover the mystery of several elemental creature attacks, creating havoc across the continent!

Spider-Man: Far From Home features the return of Tom Holland (Spider-Man), Marisa Tomei (Aunt May), Zendaya (Michelle), Jacob Batalon (Ned Leeds), Angourie Rice (Betty Brant), Tony Revolori (Flash Thompson), Martin Star (Mr. Harrington), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) and Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill), with Jake Gyllenhaal (Prisoners) as Mysterio.
