The Suicide Squad is the most fun James Gunn has had making a movie

January 3, 2020 by Samuel Brace

James Gunn, the director of The Suicide Squad, says that he has never had more fun making a movie.

There is certainly a lot of intrigue surrounding James Gunn’s quasi-reboot of The Suicide Squad, with many fans of his work on the zany Guardians of the Galaxy films hoping his magic translates to the world of DC.

While we don’t know how popular the film will ultimately be at this point, James Gunn has revealed that The Suicide Squad is the most fun he has had making a movie and has explained why on Instagram (via ComicBook.com):

“Mostly I’ve just grown as a person. I’m allowing myself to enjoy the movie making process for the first time ever. But also I have the greatest crew I’ve ever had – all of the best folks Vol 1, 2, & 3 assembled together in a super crew. I adore the cast & the producers are some of my best friends in the world (Peter Safran, @simonlikes (Simon Hatt), Chuck Roven). I love my screenplay & I’ve changed up my style of shooting on this one so it’s more fun and visceral. ETC!”

Well, hopefully, this all equates to a terrific movie! We will have to wait until 2021 to find out, however.

The Suicide Squad is set for release on August 6th 2021 and features a cast that includes the returning Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag) and Viola Davis (Amanda Waller) alongside new DCEU additions Idris Elba, Peter Capaldi, John Cena, Alice Braga, Nathan Fillion, Taika Waititi, Jennifer Holland, David Dastmalchian, Joaquín Cosío, Mayling Ng, Flula Borg, Juan Diego Botto, Storm Reid, Pete Davidson, Tinashe Kajese, Daniela Melchior, Julio Ruiz, Steve Agee, Michael Rooker and Sean Gunn.
