Rihanna joins Luc Besson’s Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets

October 29, 2015 by Amie Cranswick

Rihanna is heading back to the big screen once again, with Luc Besson revealing via Instagram that the signer has signed on for “a big part” in the filmmaker’s upcoming sci-fi adaptation Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.

Based on the comic book by Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mezieres, Valerian is set in the 28th century and follows the eponymous time-travelling agent (Dane DeHaan) and his sidekick Laureline (Cara Delevingne) as they investigate a galactic empire. Clive Owen is also set to feature in the cast as Commander Arun Filitt.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is set for release in the summer of 2017.
