Producer Jason Blum says Halloween Kills is a “very big movie” with a larger canvas

February 18, 2020 by Liam Waddington

While audiences are still waiting for the first official trailer, Halloween Kills producer Jason Blum has teased that the upcoming sequel to 2018’s Halloween will have a much larger canvas than its predecessors.

“Halloween Kills is a very big movie,” Blum shared with TooFab. “I can tell you that. The canvas of Halloween Kills is very large.”

Based on these minimal comments, we can presume Blum is referring to the scope of the film with bringing back multiple characters from the original Halloween including Tommy Doyle, Lindsey Wallace, Nurse Marion, and Sheriff Brackett rather than having the story unfold in multiple locations.

James Jude Courtney, who is set to reprise his role as Michael Myers, has previously described Halloween Kills as “Halloween on speed” when discussing the violence and intensity in the upcoming sequel.

“We have to make the natural progression from 1978 to 2018 to Halloween Kills – the ante has be upped,” Courtney said. “The ticking bomb has to be more intense. Otherwise, we’re just doing what we’ve done before. We pumped up the volume on this one.”

Halloween Kills is directed by David Gordon Green from a script by Green and Danny McBride and sees Jamie Lee Curtis (Laurie Strode) Judy Greer (Karen), Andi Matichak (Allyson), Jibrail Nantambu (Julian), Kyle Richards (Lindsey Wallace), Nancy Stephens (Nurse Marion), Charles Cyphers (Sheriff Brackett) and Nick Castle and James Jude Courtney (The Shape) all reprising their roles, while new additions include Anthony Michael Hall (The Dead Zone) as Tommy Doyle and Robert Longstreet (The Haunting of Hill House) as Lonnie Elam.

Halloween Kills is set for release on October 16th 2020, with Halloween Ends following in October 15th 2021.
