Marvel to expand upon Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker with comic book series

February 20, 2020 by Gary Collinson

Marvel Comics has announced that it is set to adapt the final chapter of the Skywalker Saga – and expand upon the story in Episode IX – with the five-issue miniseries Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Adaptation from writer Jody Houser (Star Wars: TIE Fighter) and artist Will Sliney (Star Wars: The Rise of Kylo Ren).

“As a lifelong Star Wars fan, it was an honor to be asked to be a part of wrapping up the Skywalker saga with Marvel Comics,” Houser said. “We have some fun plans to add scenes and material that weren’t seen in the movie.”

FROM BEYOND THE OUTER RIM, AN OLD ENEMY RETURNS! REY and the RESISTANCE set out on a desperate quest to stop the threat of the FINAL ORDER! Can they succeed where Jedi Master LUKE SKYWALKER himself failed? And what is KYLO REN’S real goal in partnering with the resurrected PALPATINE? The landmark Skywalker saga is adapted by Jody (TIE FIGHTER) Houser and Will Sliney (THE RISE OF KYLO REN). Featuring extended and deleted scenes.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Adaptation #1 is set to go on sale in June.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker sees J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) directing a cast that includes Star Wars veterans Daisy Ridley (Rey), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Lupita Nyong’o (Maz Kanata), Domhnall Gleeson (General Hux), Kelly Marie Tran (Rose Tico), Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca), Billie Lourd (Lieutenant Connix), Greg Grunberg (Snap Wexley), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian), Ian McDiarmid (Emperor Palpatine) and Carrie Fisher (Leia Organa) as well as new additions Naomi Ackie (Lady Macbeth), Richard E. Grant (Logan), Dominic Monaghan (Lost), and Keri Russell (The Americans).
