Tom Holland confirms Spider-Man 3 filming dates and Zendaya return

March 14, 2020 by EJ Moreno

After some uncertainty and drama last year regarding Sony’s Spider-Man franchise and the web-slinger’s continued presence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it seems like things are moving ahead smoothly on the as-yet-untitled Spider-Man 3. Now that the drama between the studios is over, the next entry in the series is gearing up to go into production ahead of its planned July 2021 release.

Star of Spider-Man: Homecoming and Far From Home, Tom Holland spoke with Inquirer and spilled details on the filming location and date for the sequel. When asked if he will be starring in the third installment, Holland stated: “Yes is the answer to that question. I’m super happy about it. We will be shooting Spider-Man 3 in July in Atlanta.”

The cast and crew will start their shoot in July (coronavirus permitting), and Holland confirms that a fan-favorite character is returning too: “Zendaya will most definitely be in the film,” Holland confirmed. “As to the relationship between Peter and MJ, I’m not too sure what it will be.”

Sony head Tom Rothman previously spoke kindly about the deal between Sony Pictures and Disney, describing the new rights deal as “a win-win” for both brands. And with Holland calling the story for Spider-Man 3 “something very special” and “very different,” it does seem like everyone on board is in high spirits.
