WWE Money in the Bank 2020 Predictions

May 10, 2020 by Liam Hoofe

Liam Hoofe with his predictions for WWE Money in the Bank 2020…

This weekend, the WWE will present their annual Money in the Bank PPV event in what promises to be one of the craziest shows in recent WWE history. The titular match is set to partly take place on the roof of WWE headquarters in what can only be described as one of the most insane gimmicks in recent memory.

The current crisis has forced the WWE to get creative in recent months and Money in the Bank has the potential to be a truly memorable night for the company. Let’s take a detailed look at what the show could have in store for us.

Asuka vs Shayna Baszler vs Nia Jax vs Dana Brooke vs Carmella vs Lacey Evans

While the two Money in the Bank matches are going to happen at the same time, there will still be separate winners for each of the matches. On the women’s side of things, the fact that the WWE has advertised Becky Lynch confronting the winner on Monday night suggests that the winner is going to be from Raw. This also seems fairly obvious given the three superstars SmackDown has thrown into the mix.

Any of the three Raw women could feasibly win this match but the one who benefits the most, and the one I’m choosing, is Asuka. Asuka has been the star of the empty-arena era and this could really help push her back up the card. Shayna could benefit but equally, she is so legitimate, she doesn’t need the briefcase. As for Nia Jax, she would be an unpopular choice, though that won’t matter much without a crowd.

The other option here is to have Sasha insert herself into the match. This could happen if the match takes place throughout the night, which some rumors have suggested. I’m going to have my cake and eat it and throw it in as my bonus pick here.

Prediction: Asuka wins
Possibility: Sasha Banks joins the match and wins

The New Day vs Lucha House Party vs John Morrison and The Miz Vs The Forgotten Sons

The SmackDown tag-team division has been a little crazy since WrestleMania but it’s refreshing to see some teams chucked into the mix. This should be a really fun encounter, especially if it’s given plenty of time. The New Day are likely to retain here, but the WWE could also feasibly switch the belts back to Miz and Morrison to keep things exciting.

Prediction: The New Day retains

Bayley vs Tamina

This is hands down the least interesting match on the card. Tamina is very much a flavour of the month style challenger and this match should be kept short. Bayley will find a way to win the match, and the WWE will hopefully continue to tease Bayley vs Sasha during and after the match.

Prediction: Bayley wins

Drew McIntyre vs Seth Rollins

Drew McIntyre has looked a million dollars as champion so far and I really hope he gets the chance to shine in front of a real audience soon. This has been a solid first feud for McIntyre and the two men are both spectacular performers inside the ropes.

McIntyre is hopefully in for a long run here and hopefully, he and Rollins can put on an excellent encounter on Sunday night. Make no mistake though, Drew McIntyre is leaving as the champion.

Prediction: Drew McIntyre retains

Braun Strowman vs Bray Wyatt

The Universal Championship scene has been somewhat of a mess in recent months and things could continue to get messy on Sunday night if the WWE books this match wrong. Given that it is Bray Wyatt and not The Fiend who is facing Strowman, it makes perfect sense for Strowman to squash Wyatt and then be confronted by The Fiend to set up a rematch at the next event.

Prediction: Braun Strowman retains

Aleister Black vs AJ Styles vs Daniel Bryan vs Otis vs King Corbin vs Rey Mysterio

Up until Monday night, it seemed as though Aleister Black was the favourite to take home the Money in the Bank briefcase. While Black carrying the case may not fit his character or his look, it would be the perfect opportunity to push him to the next level and give the WWE 12 months to really establish him as a world champion contender.

That was all until AJ Styles entered the fray. Styles’ character would perfectly suit the briefcase right now and putting it in his hands would reassert him as a top title contender on Monday nights. The idea of McIntyre vs Styles later down the line is also a thrilling concept and sets up some potentially thrilling encounters.

As for the rest of the candidates, Bryan is an outside shout, while you can never rule King Corbin out of too much. Mysterio and Otis feel as though they are just making up numbers, and Otis has to be one of the top candidates for a big spot off the roof.

Prediction: AJ Styles wins
