Gal Gadot reacts to latest Wonder Woman 1984 delay

June 13, 2020 by Gary Collinson

Last night it was confirmed that Warner Bros. has pushed back the release of a number of its big 2020 (and 2021) offerings as a result of the ongoing public health crisis, including two of this summer’s biggest hitters in Christopher Nolan’s time-bending sci-fi action thriller Tenet and the DC Extended Universe superhero sequel Wonder Woman 1984.

Following the announcement, Diana Prince herself Gal Gadot took to Twitter to comment on the latest delay (which sees Wonder Woman 1984 now slated for October 2nd), as well as thanking fans for their patience:

The new release date for WW84 is 10.2.20. Wow,it's finally happening, & I couldn’t be more excited! To all the fans that stuck w/ us through this time, thank u so much! We couldn't have done this w/o you.I'm so excited for you to get to see this #WW84, it will be worth the wait❤️ pic.twitter.com/GCU0tcpqHT

Meanwhile, director Patty Jenkins also shared her own tweet:

Wish we were sharing our film yesterday but there are more important things going on in our world we'd rather you focus on for now. Thank you to our fans for being so great, by our sides. Can’t WAIT for you to see it! Sending love and healing to the world. See you October 2nd!! pic.twitter.com/BuOjMnlFsQ

At this point, Wonder Woman 1984 seems to be battling The New Mutants for the Guinness World Record for most release date changes. It was originally set to open on December 13th 2019, before being moved to November 1st 2019 and then delayed seven months to June 5th 2020. The pandemic scuppered that plan, with the film then moving to August 14th before settling on its current October date. Let’s hope this is the last time it has to move…

Wonder Woman 1984 reunites Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins with stars Gal Gadot (Diana Prince), Chris Pine (Steve Trevor), Ewen Bremner (Charlie), Said Taghmaoui (Sameer), Connie Nielsen (Queen Hippolyta), Robin Wright (General Antiope), Lisa Loven Kongsli (Menalippe), Doutzen Kroes (Venelia) and new additions Kristen Wiig (Ghostbusters) as Barbara Ann Minerva/Cheetah, Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones) as Maxwell Lord, and Natasha Rothwell (Love, Simon), Ravi Patel (Master of None, Grandfathered) and Gabriella Wilde (Doctor Who, Poldark) in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
