James Gunn debunks rumour of Poison Ivy in The Suicide Squad

August 4, 2020 by Samuel Brace

James Gunn, the director of The Suicide Squad, has debunked a rumour that said Poison Ivy would be in the film.

After a lot of talk by David Ayer regarding his version of Suicide Squad, it’s nice to hear about the franchise’s future under James Gunn.

Gunn will be directing The Suicide Squad for WB and rumours are naturally circulating about what characters could make an appearance. One rumour says that cast member Alice Braga will be portraying the Batman villain Poison Ivy but apparently this has no basis in truth.

Taking to Twitter to debunk the rumour, Gunn said: “Wouldn’t it be nice if sites didn’t report the ramblings of some rando on Reddit, YouTube, Twitter, or 4chan as if it was news?

“… it’s not true. It’s BS like most stuff off this particular site.”

There will surely be plenty of fun surprises for fans in The Suicide Squad, including lots of references to the wider DC world and favourite characters to join the likes of Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn.

The Suicide Squad sees James Gunn directing a cast that includes Suicide Squad returnees Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag) and Viola Davis (Amanda Waller) as well as new DCEU additions Idris Elba, Peter Capaldi, Alice Braga, Nathan Fillion, Taika Waititi, Jennifer Holland, David Dastmalchian, Joaquín Cosío, Mayling Ng, Flula Borg, Juan Diego Botto, Storm Reid, John Cena, Pete Davidson, Tinashe Kajese, Daniela Melchior, Julio Ruiz, Steve Agee, Michael Rooker, and Sean Gunn.
