What was supposed to be Disney’s latest theatrical release of 2020 is now move to Disney+. On Thursday, the studio announced that Soul, the all-new original feature from Pixar Animation Studios, is moving to their streaming service and coming out this December 25th. Unlike Mulan, which cost $29.99, there will be no additional charge to subscribers.
Originally set for release on June 19th, 2020, in the United States, Soul then moved to November 20th, 2020, replacing Raya and the Last Dragon, which moved to 2021. This recent change comes just days after Cineworld and Regal Cinemas closed its doors around the U.K. and United States.
“We are thrilled to share Pixar’s spectacular and moving Soul with audiences direct to Disney+ in December,” said Bob Chapek, Chief Executive Officer, The Walt Disney Company. “A new original Pixar film is always a special occasion, and this truly heartwarming and humorous story about human connection and finding one’s place in the world will be a treat for families to enjoy together this holiday season.”

I hope it will bring some humor and fun to people at a time when everyone can surely use that.”
