Star Citizen gets new Alpha 3.11: High Impact update

October 9, 2020 by Andrew Newton

Cloud Imperium Games has announced the release of the latest update for Star Citizen.  This new update (Alpha 3.11: High Impact update) is available for all pilots and unveils three new Origin 100 series starter ships, changes to Armistice Zones and more.  This update coincides with the game’s 8th anniversary and celebrations including events, activities and giveaways will be taking place this weekend.  If you want to see more of the changes with Alpha 3.11 update check out the new trailer below…

The three new Origin 100 Series ships have been designed for those pilots who want to show off a luxurious sleek look while not sacrificing any of the functionality or reliability of other ships.  These vessels are among the most fuel efficient of their class and come with elegant living quarters.  What’s more, these are also the first new ships to feature a more physicalised dashboard, where every button and switch in the cockpit can be interacted with by the player.

Players can also expect a more realistic and dangerous experience thanks to the removal of Armistice Zones around a selection of existing locations.  There’s no more Armistice Zones around space stations so players can now be attacked by others upon entry or exit from, however, it won’t be all plain sailing for the attacker as there is the introduction of security forces and turret systems to maintain law and order.

As well as the above, this latest update also introduces new force reactions, high-powered weapons, planetary art improvements, expanded prison gameplay and a new inventory UI.

To celebrate the 8th anniversary of Star Citizen the developers are celebrating with a weekend of events and content, including a variety of digital prizes and giveaways.

“Today is a big day for the Star Citizen community as it marks both the launch of the Alpha 3.11: High Impact Update as well as the beginning of Star Citizen’s birthday celebration,” said Cloud Imperium Games CEO and Star Citizen creative director Chris Roberts. “It has been an incredible eight years of building this universe with the most amazing community in gaming. While we’ve made huge progress towards creating a fully immersive universe like nothing else in gaming, none of this would have been possible without the support and devotion of our community. On behalf of everyone at Cloud Imperium Games, I’d like to share our thanks and gratitude for your support. We are truly humbled and look forward to continuing the journey together.”

The latest Alpha 3.11 update is available now.
