AMC responds to rumours that Rick Grimes returns in The Walking Dead: World Beyond finale

November 4, 2020 by Samuel Brace

AMC has responded to the recent rumour circulating that Rick Grimes will be making his grand return in the season finale of The Walking Dead: World Beyond.

Andrew Lincoln and his character Rick Grimes left The Walking Dead in season nine, with the character expected to receive his own movie at a later date.

New spin-off series The Walking Dead: World Beyond features the group responsible for Rick’s disappearance and a listing by IMDB even included Lincoln in the cast for December’s season finale.

This, of course, led to rumours of his return to circulate. AMC has decided to step in, however, and clarify that Rick Grimes will not be appearing in the show.

An AMC representative spoke to Insider about the rumour, saying the IMBD listing is “not accurate”. The listing has now been updated to remove Lincoln’s name.

The Insider reports the reason why AMC stepped in: “The individual expressed concern fans would be disappointed if they expected to see Rick in the episode only for him to not appear.”

So, it just goes to show, that you can’t believe everything you read on IMDB! The site allows account holders to edit listings which can lead to inaccuracies such as this.

Hopefully, it won’t be long before we see Rick on our screens again, even if it’s not in World Beyond.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond expands the universe of The Walking Dead, delving into a new mythology and story that follows the first generation raised in a surviving civilization of the post-apocalyptic world. Two sisters along with two friends leave a place of safety and comfort to brave dangers, known and unknown, living and undead on an important quest.  Pursued by those who wish to protect them and those who wish to harm them, a tale of growing up and transformation unfurls across dangerous terrain, challenging everything they know about the world, themselves and each other.  Some will become heroes.  Some will become villains.  But all of them will find the truths they seek.

Created by Scott M. Gimple and showrunner Matt Negrete, The Walking Dead: World Beyond features a cast that includes Aliyah Royale as Iris, Alexa Mansour as Hope, Annet Mahendru as Huck, Nicolas Cantu as Elton, Hal Cumpston as Silas, Nico Tortorella as Felix, Julia Ormond as Elizabeth, Natalie Gold as Lyla, Al Calderon as Barca, Scott Adsit as Tony and Ted Sutherland as Percy.
