Lynne Ramsay to direct adaptation of Stephen King‘s The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon

November 17, 2020 by Liam Waddington

Earlier this year, it was announced that Christy Hall, co-creator and executive producer of the recent Netflix series I Am Not Okay With This, is adapting Stephen King‘s 1999 novel The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon into a feature film, and now, we’ve learned who will be helming the project.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lynne Ramsay, who directed We Need to Talk About Kevin and You Were Never Really Here, will be directing the adaptation as well as working with Hall on the script.

The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon follows nine-year-old Trisha McFarland who strays from the path while she and her recently divorced mother and brother take a hike along a branch of the Appalachian Trail. Lost for days, wandering farther and farther astray, Trisha has only her portable radio for comfort. A huge fan of Tom Gordon, a Boston Red Sox relief pitcher, she listens to baseball games and fantasizes that her hero will save her. Nature isn’t her only adversary, though – something dangerous may be tracking Trisha through the dark woods.”
