Ray Fisher confirms that Cyborg has been removed from The Flash movie, doubles down on criticism of Walter Hamada and Geoff Johns

January 14, 2021 by Gary Collinson

Days after disputing a report from The Wrap that Warner Bros. has written his character out of The Flash movie, Justice League star Ray Fisher has now taken to social media to confirm that the studio has indeed dropped Cyborg – and himself – from the Ezra Miller-led Flashpoint adaptation.

“I have received official confirmation that Warner Bros. Pictures has decided to remove me from the cast of The Flash,” writes Fisher. “I strongly disagree with their decision, but it is one that in unsurprising.”

In the lengthy post, Fisher doubles down on his previous criticism of DC Films chief Walter Hamada, and what he describes as his “purposeful attempt to undermine the Justice League investigation in order to protect his friend and former co-president Geoff Johns”, and accusing Johns of “blatant racism” and “racist, coercive, discriminatory and retaliatory behaviour” during and after the Justice League reshoots.

As Fisher notes, it should come as little surprise that Cyborg is no longer part of The Flash, particularly as the actor stated that he “will not participate in any production associated with [Hamada]” just days before WarnerMedia extended his contract as head of DC Films. Meanwhile, in response to Fisher’s latest claims, WarnerMedia CEO Ann Sarnoff has released the following statement in support of Hamada.

“I believe in Walter Hamada and that he did not impede or interfere in the investigation. Furthermore, I have full confidence in the investigation’s process and findings. Walter is a well-respected leader, known by his colleagues, peers, and me as a man of great character and integrity. As I said in Walter’s recent deal extension announcement, I’m excited about where he’s taking DC Films and look forward to working with him and the rest of the team to build out the DC Multiverse.”

So, it appears that this may be the end for Fisher’s Cyborg in the DC Extended Universe. Let’s hope the behind-the-scenes drama is resolved soon too and reaches its conclusion.

The Flash is being directed by Andy Muschietti and sees Ezra Miller reprising his role as Barry Allen alongside Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton, both of whom are returning as Batman. It is currently set for release on November 4th 2022.
