Mission: Impossible 7 & A Quiet Place Part II to premiere on Paramount+ 45 days after theatrical release

February 25, 2021 by EJ Moreno

Paramount+ is following in the footsteps of Disney+ and HBO Max on how to handle its blockbuster releases. While Paramount as a whole is still committed to theatrical releases, it will offer up viewers a way to see their biggest releases sooner.

Yesterday, we learned during the Paramount+ investor presentation that Paramount+ will premiere Mission: Impossible 7 and A Quiet Place Part II just a little over a month after their cinematic releases. These films will go on the streaming service 45 days after their theatrical openings in a progressive new distribution deal.

The landscape of movie releases has changed since 2020. Universal Pictures had a deal that saw their cinematic releases arrive on PVOD just 17 days after their big-screen debut. HBO Max shocked the industry when they announced that their entire 2021 line-up would premiere on the streaming service and in theatres on the same day. Paramount+ will join these platforms as they navigate a pandemic-stricken industry.

Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible 7 is currently scheduled to hit theaters on November 19th, while A Quiet Place Part II will premiere in cinemas on September 17th. The John Krasinski-directed horror sequel was initially set for release on March 20th, 2020.
