Deck-builder Trials of Fire launches on Steam

April 10, 2021 by Andrew Newton

Whatboy Games have launched their single-player, turn-based strategy Trials of Fire is now available on Steam.  Set in a post-cataclysmic fantasy realm, Trials of Fire is a deck-building game that will have players journey through a fantasy world in ruins.

Trials of Fire takes players into the desolate wastelands of Ashe as they guide a party of three Heroes with the aim to save the forsaken people of the brutal and barren wastelands.

In this unique adventure traverse hex-based maps, take part in turn-based battles, explore the barren wastes and combine tactical planning with deck-building skills.

Featuring:

  • Enhance each hero’s abilities by taking advantage of powerful card synergies and by combining Heroes’ individual skills and powers.
  • Game changing loot, more than 200 unique items and over 320 upgradeable Skill Cards.
  • Players can choose their own path through the world and can define their own adventure as they search and fight for resources critical to their survival.

“Coming out of early access after almost two years of full-time development is an incredible achievement for any indie team,” says Dax Ginn, co-Founder and Studio Director of Whatboy Games. “We have faced down a lot of trials of our own during the creation of this game, but one thing is for sure – there is no way that we would be in this position without the support and input of the community that has emerged around Trials of Fire. The suggestions and critique from the thousands of players who have joined us on this adventure have shaped the game into something we can all be very proud of and we look forward to welcoming many more players into the world of Ashe.”

Trials of Fire is available now on Steam for £15.49/ $19.99/ €16.79.  There’s also an Inferno Edition available and includes a digital map of Ashe, the complete original soundtrack and 100-page digital artbook.
