80s Action Heroes come to Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone

May 19, 2021 by Andrew Newton

Prepare for non-stop action coming to Call of Duty: Warzone, Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty: Mobile in the mid-season update arriving tomorrow.  The ’80s Action Heroes event includes two new Operators who also happen to be iconic action heroes, Die Hard’s John McClane and Rambo from Rambo: First Blood Part II.  As well as these there will also be limited-time bundles and game modes.  Meet the heroes in the new trailer below…

Both Legendary Operators are available from today until 18th June in the Black Ops Cold War and Warzone Store.  Rambo is available as part of the Rambo Bundle and also includes two finishing moves (with one being his signature bow and arrow), three Legendary Weapon Blueprints including an assault rifle, an LMG and a Knife Blueprint, a Legendary Calling Card and Emblem and an Epic Watch and Charm.

The Die Hard Bundle will include the Legendary Operator, a Finishing Move, three Legendary Weapon Blueprints including one tactical rifle, one SMG and one assault rifle.  It will also feature a Legendary Calling Card and Emblem, an Epic Watch and an Epic Weapon Charm.

It’s not only the heroes that have arrived in-game, there’s also some new locations from the films appeared in Verdansk.  Replacing the Broadcast Tower and surrounding blocks of Downtown’s southern district there is now Die Hard’s Nakatomi Plaza.  This location features optional missions that can be completed during Battle Royale and Plunder such as finding Supply Boxes and defusing an explosive on the roof.

Around Verdansk are there are 10 campsites that have been converted into Survival Camps as a homage to Rambo: First Blood Part II.  These provide the opportunity for players to walk out with loadout items and dog-tags with possibility of more reward from collecting enough.  Also from Rambo is a makeshift CIA Outpost.

A new limited time mode, called Power Grab, will see 100 Operators across select squad sizes battle for supremacy.  Unlike traditional Battle Royale the starting circle collapse is smaller and there is no Gulag when players die.  Instead it is up to team mates to revive them via a Buy Station or by collecting Dog Tags which are dropped by defeated opponents, in supply boxes and also as rewards for completing contracts.  Every collected Dog Tag also takes players up a notch on the reward ladder.

Among the other additions with the update are a new Combat Bow Killstreak, the Ballistic Knife in Warzone, 2 new multiplayer maps in Black Ops Cold War, a Free-for-All mode called Rambo’s Gun Game, Die Hardpoint game mode, hero inspired medals and more.

Zombies players haven’t been left out either and can expect a new Main Quest, the Orda World Event and much more.

The new Operator Bundles are available today on the Cold War and Warzone store.
