Good Girls cancelled after talks with Netflix fall through

June 26, 2021 by EJ Moreno

Good Girls has ended its run at NBC. Though talks with Netflix were happening, The Hollywood Reporter notes that those plans have now “imploded.”

The fan-favorite series ran for four seasons and found a bit of a cult following. It sadly never found a massive audience in the ratings, which led to it landing on the chopping block. Sources close to the situation note that NBC wanted to bring the show back for a fifth and final season but “could not come to a financial agreement” that would allow Good Girls to continue.

The series joins the other recently axed NBC series like Manifest, Debris, and Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist. Like Good Girls, those series attempted to find homes on other platforms but conversations fell through as well.

One of the series leads, Christina Hendricks, took to her Instagram account to comment on the cancelation, stating: Well, we gave it our all. We really did. Thank you to our amazing fans through the years for all your passion and support.”

The final five remaining episodes of the drama will still air on NBC after its mid-season hiatus.

“Good Girls stars Christina Hendricks, Retta, and Mae Whitman as three suburban moms who get tired of trying to make ends meet and decide it’s time to stick up for themselves by robbing the local grocery store. But when the manager catches a glimpse of one of them and the loot is far more than they expected, it doesn’t take long for the three best friends to realize the perfect getaway will be harder than they think.”
