Joaquin Phoenix teams with A24 & Mike Mills in trailer for C’mon C’mon

September 8, 2021 by EJ Moreno

The film festival darling C’mon C’mon has its first trailer, and based on this first impression we could see Joaquin Phoenix heading to another Oscar win.

In the upcoming A24 film trailer, director Mike Mills brings his signature style to another harrowing story. The 20th Century Women and Beginners director is known for emotional movies, each of them pulling the heartstrings of their viewers. C’mon C’mon looks like no exception to that as we see Phoenix delivering some of his best work yet.

The film follows Johnny (Phoenix), who forms a tenuous but transformational relationship with his young nephew (Woody Norman) when they are unexpectedly thrown together. The first look promises melancholy dialogue and some crisp black & white cinematography from DP Robbie Ryan. Check out the stunning trailer here…

Johnny (Joaquin Phoenix) and his young nephew (Woody Norman) forge a tenuous but transformational relationship when they are unexpectedly thrown together in this delicate and deeply moving story about the connections between adults and children, the past and the future, from writer-director Mike Mills.

Mike Mills directs C’mon C’mon, and the film stars Joaquin Phoenix, Woody Norman, and Gaby Hoffman.

C’mon C’mon will next play the New York Film Festival on October 4th. The film is set for wide release in November.
