Rockstar officially announces remasters of Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City and San Andreas

October 10, 2021 by Gary Collinson

Laying to rest months of rumour and speculation, Rockstar has officially announced that remastered versions of the iconic titles Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas are heading to PC and consoles as Grand Theft Auto The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition.

Details on the remasters are being kept a closely guarded secret at present, but Rockstar has promised “across the board upgrades” to the three titles, including “graphical improvements and modern gameplay enhancements… while still maintaining the classic look and feel of the originals.”

Grand Theft Auto The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. will release on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Switch and PC at some point before the end of the year and will also make their way onto Android and iOS in 2022. In anticipation of the release, Rockstar will be removing the current GTAIII, Vice City and San Andreas from digital retailers this coming week, although anyone who’s already purchased them will still be able to access and play the games.
