See Buzz Lightyear’s origin in Disney-Pixar’s Lightyear trailer

October 27, 2021 by Ricky Church

Pixar has released the first teaser for Lightyear, a Toy Story spin-off detailing how Buzz Lightyear became a Space Ranger for Star Command. Starring Chris Evans as the young Buzz, audiences will get to see the first time the sci-fi hero who inspired the toy went to infinity and beyond.

Unlike Pixar’s two latest films Soul and Luca that went straight to Disney+, Lightyear will be a theatre exclusive when it it released next summer.

The sci-fi action-adventure presents the definitive origin story of Buzz Lightyear—the hero who inspired the toy—introducing the legendary Space Ranger who would win generations of fans.

Lightyear will be released June 17, 2022.
