Following on from its record-breaking opening weekend, Disney and Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens has now smashed another record on its way to $610 million worldwide.
On Monday, the film earned $40.1 million domestically, crushing the previous Monday record of $27.7 million set by Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2 back in 2004 and pushing its North American haul to $288.1 million.
Today will see the blockbuster cross $300 million in North America, becoming the fastest film to do so – a record it has already reached internationally, where it sits on $322.7 million.
