Xbox Games with Gold for January 2022 announced

December 23, 2021 by Andrew Newton

It’s that time of the month again when we see what joys Microsoft will be bringing us next month with Games of Gold.  As usual there will be four games available to all Gold subscribers released throughout the month and hopefully giving gamers something new to try out.  January’s offerings bring us a month full of action so read on for more and watch the announcement trailer below…

Kicking off the new year is the twin-stick RPG shooter Neurovoider.  Set in a futuristic cyber world, players will need to journey through procedurally generated levels, fighting hordes of robots in order to defeat the villainous Neurovoider.  There’s plenty of loot to collect that can be used to customise their character and they can be boosted using the remains of the enemy.  Take on the challenge with friends in co-op mode or go solo and enjoy a touch of perma-death for good measure.

Also available from the 1st of Jan’ to the 15th is the Xbox 360 game, Radiant Silvergun.  This vertical scrolling shoot ’em up takes players to the year 2520 and a world where scientists have unearthed a giant crystal that begins to summon alien enemies that relentlessly attack the Earth.  Players will fly to Earth in their Silvergun fighter and fight their way through wave after wave of enemies to get to the crystal and destroy it.  Thanks to backwards compatibility, this game will work perfectly on Xbox One and Series X/S.

From 16th January to 15th February, subscribers will be able to download Aground.  This 2D survival RPG puts players in the role to one of the last human survivors on an uninhabited island.  It will be up to players to survive by mining and crafting to recover everything that has been lost.  Featuring an overarching story of survival and the fight to return home, players will craft, mine and build to help them once more gain the technology they had before.

Space Invaders Infinity Gene is the last game for January, being available from 16th to 31st Jan’, and if you hadn’t guessed is a shoot ’em up based on the veteran Space Invaders franchise.  The game starts off looking and playing like a classic Space Invaders game but during play starts to evolve with new stages, new power ups and fabulous new features that change the way you play.

Players will be challenged by 143 stages through both Normal and Challenge modes and there’s a Bonus Mode that features levels that unlock by evolving.  Players will also be able to fight their way through levels that have been generated by using their own music.

If you like shoot ’em ups then January’s offerings makes it the month for you. Have a great Christmas and get ready for a bullet storming new year!
