Star Trek announces premiere dates for Strange New Worlds and Picard, renewals for all current Star Trek shows

January 19, 2022 by Ricky Church

The next few months are going to be loaded for Star Trek fans as CBS and Paramount announced a host of premiere dates and renewals for all the Star Trek TV series currently airing, including the upcoming Star Trek: Strange New Worlds for its inaugural season.

Beginning in February, Star Trek: Discovery will return with new episodes of its fourth season on February 10. The series, which stars Sonequa Martin-Green in the lead role of Michael Burnham, also announced it has been renewed for a fifth season.

Following that, Star Trek: Picard has set a premiere date for its second season on March 3. The season will see Patrick Stewart reunite with his Star Trek: The Next Generation nemesis John de Lancie as Q in an alternate timeline.

The season will also see Whoopi Goldberg reprise her fan-favourite role of Guinan while Annie Wersching will play the Borg Queen. Picard has already been renewed for a third season which was shooting back-to-back with the second and is still currently in production.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will have its series premiere not long ago Picard concludes with a date of May 5. The premiere date announcement also revealed it has already been renewed for a second season.

Strange New Worlds is a spin-off of Discovery with Anson Mount, Ethan Peck and Rebecca Romijn reprising their roles as Captain Christopher Pike, Spock and Number One/Una Chin-Riley. The series will follow them on the U.S.S. Enterprise in the original 5-year mission before James Kirk was made its captain. Both Mount and Romijn tweeted statements expressing their excitement for both the premiere and renewal.
