Salma Hayek to star in Angelina Jolie’s Without Blood

June 13, 2022 by Gary Collinson

Deadline is reporting that Salma Hayek is set to reunite with her Eternals co-star Angelina Jolie as she takes on a role in the latter’s new directorial offering Without Blood.

An adaptation of Alessandro Baricco’s bestselling novel, Without Blood is described as “a fable set in the aftermath of an unidentified conflict in a farmhouse deep in the Italian countryside” and will see Hayek starring alongside Demian Bichir ().

“I’m honored to be here in Italy to bring this very special material to film, and to have been entrusted by Alessandro Baricco with the adaptation of his book — with its unique poetry and emotion and way of looking at war, and the questions it poses about what we search for after trauma or loss or injustice,” said Jolie of her fifth directing effort.

Salma Hayek was last seen in Marvel’s Eternals and Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci, while she recently joined the cast of Magic Mike’s Last Dance as a replacement for Thandiwe Newton, who departed the sequel after clashing with star and producer Channing Tatum.

Without Blood marks Jolie’s first project under her recent deal with Fremantle which will see her producing a slate of film, TV series and documentaries. Production is now underway in Southern Italy.
