Stargirl season 3 trailer sees conflict in Courtney’s training

July 13, 2022 by Ricky Church

The CW has released the first trailer for Stargirl’s third season, and we have it for you below…

The series follows Courtney Whitmore, a young high schooler who discovers her step-father Pat was a former member of the Justice Society of America. She decides to become Stargirl, using the Cosmic Staff of Pat’s mentor Starman, and attempts to rebuild the Justice Society with a new generation of young superheroes.

The third season will see Courtney begin training with a returned Starman, played by Joel McHale, as he teaches her how to unlock the Cosmic Staff’s full power. However, there is conflict between Starman and Pat as Starman is bitter over his and Courtney’s decision to not only leave members of the Injustice Society alive, but give them chance to redeem themselves after they killed most of the original members of the Justice Society decades earlier.

Stargirl stars Brec Bassinger, Yvette Monreal, Cameron Gellman, Amy Smart, Trae Romano, Anjelika Washington, Luke Wilson, Meg DeLacy, and Joel McHale. Joining the cast in the second season were Ysa Penarejo, Alkoya Brunson, Nick Tarabay, Jonathan Cake, and Jim Gaffigan, along with John Wesley Shipp reprising his role as Jay Garrick, the Golden Age Flash.

Both the Stargirl character and show were created by Geoff Johns. He produces alongside the Arrowverse’s Greg Berlanti and his company Berlanti Productions.

Stargirl season 3 will premiere August 31st.
