HBO’s The Idol trailer sees Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd in “the sleaziest love story in all of Hollywood”

July 19, 2022 by Matt Rodgers

Set in the L.A. music industry, The Idol is the latest from Euphoria creator Sam Levinson, who has teamed up with Grammy-winning musician The Weeknd to tell the hedonistic story of a self-help guru and leader of a modern-day cult who embarks on a complicated relationship with an up-and-coming pop singer, played by Lily-Rose Depp.

All six-episodes have been helmed by She Dies Tomorrow director Amy Seimetz, who has assembled a cast that includes Suzanna Son, Troye Sivan, Steve Zissis, Melanie Liburd, Tunde Adebimpe, Elizabeth Berkley Lauren, Nico Hiraga and Anne Heche; check out the stylish new teaser below…

A self-help guru and leader of a modern-day cult enters a complicated relationship with a rising pop idol. From the sick and twisted minds of Sam Levinson and The Weeknd, aka Abel Tesfaye, who stars alongside Lily-Rose Depp, comes The Idol.
