Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed gets a new trailer as pre-orders open

August 18, 2022 by Andrew Newton

IllFonic has announced that their upcoming action-packed asymmetrical multiplayer set in the Ghostbusters universe, Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, is now available to pre-order for Xbox and Playstation consoles and PC via the Epic Games Store.  Due for release on 18th October, Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed is a 4v1 multiplayer where players can either form a team of Ghostbusters while the other takes on the role of a formidable ghost.

In Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, players get to join others and form their own squad of Ghostbusters in order to track down a variety of ghosts.  As the hunters, players will get the chance to use the P.K.E. Meter to sniff out the spook and then charge it so it can unleash a short-range pulse that disables Ghost movement, and of course use the Particle Throwers and traps to snare and capture the Ghost.  It will also be up to the hunters to discover the hidden rifts that act as the ghost’s spawn and teleportation points and destroy them.

Things are a bit different for the Ghost player.  Working alone, players will get to scare civilians, possess objects to raise the overall Global Haunt percentage and regain ghost power.  The Ghost player will be able to move rifts to keep the hunters at bay, summon minions to aid escape and, just like Slimer, will be able to slime the Ghostbusters to slow them down by temporarily stunning them.

There are plenty of locations to hunt or haunt, including a museum, abandoned prison and more, plus players can explore the famous Firehouse where they can meet new and familiar characters before departing on a mission.  As a Ghostbuster it will be possible to customise your kit at the workbench, or as the Ghost visit Ray’s Occult Books to enter the spectral realm and customise the spooky spectre’s loadout, skin and more.

“The reaction from fans of Ghostbusters has blown us away,” said Charles Brungardt, CEO, IllFonic. “Putting a date on and opening up preorders for Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed feels like an out of body experience, and we cannot wait for everyone to feel the same sensation on Tuesday October 18th.”

Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed is available to pre-order now with the bonuses of advance access to Slimer, custom Ghostbusters Particle Thrower and Proton Pack and some clothing cosmetics.
