Pearl clip ties Mia Goth’s past and present in Ti West’s X prequel

August 31, 2022 by Matt Rodgers

A24 has released a short new clip from Pearl, the covertly shot prequel to writer-director Ti West’s hit horror X [read our review here], which features Mia Goth’s past-and-bloody present intertwining as we glimpse the life she longed for on the stage, alongside the bloody murder of RJ.

Providing context to the creepy dance Pearl performs following one of X‘s most upsetting scenes, you can check out the clip below…

A post shared by Pearl: An ‘X’ Origin Story (@xmovie)

Trapped on her family’s isolated farm, Pearl must tend to her ailing father under the bitter and overbearing watch of her devout mother. Lusting for a glamorous life like she’s seen in the movies, Pearl’s ambitions, temptations, and repressions all collide, in the stunning, technicolor-inspired origin story of X’s iconic villain.

Featuring alongside Mia Goth in the cast of Pearl are David Corenswet, Tandi Wright, Matthew Sunderland, Emma Jenkins-Purro.

Pearl arrives in cinemas on September 16th.
