It seems as if Marvel is placing all its trust in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy, with a rumoured animated series in the works to follow the live-action Phase Two film. Marvel editor Stephen Wacker hinted towards the idea in an interview last year, and now rumours have arisen from Comic Book Movie suggesting that a Guardians of the Galaxy cartoon will soon appear on Disney XD. One can assume that this all depends on the success of the film but with Marvel overseeing it, it’s sure to be a financial success.
Guardians of the Galaxy will star Chris Pratt (Zero Dark Thirty), Zoe Saldana (Avatar), Bradley Cooper (American Hustle), Dave Bautista (The Man with the Iron Fists), Vin Diesel (Fast & Furious 6) Glenn Close (Damages), Karen Gillan (Doctor Who), John C. Reilly (We Need to Talk About Kevin), Benicio Del Toro (Savages), Djimon Hounsou (Blood Diamond), Michael Rooker (The Walking Dead), and Peter Serafinowicz (Shaun of the Dead). The film opens August 1st.
