Ahead of the first trailer tomorrow [UPDATE: watch the trailer here], Sony Pictures has released a moody looking for poster for Denzel Washington’s final outing as ex-government assassin Robert McCall in The Equalizer 3, which you can check out below.
The Equalizer 3 once again teams Washington with his Training Day director Anton Fuqua, as well as reuniting him with Man on Fire co-star Dakota Fanning, for a final chapter set in Southern Italy, where his retired hitman must stand up to the local mafia in order to protect his friends.
Based on the 1980s TV series starring Edward Woodward, 2014’s The Equalizer grossed just under $200 million at the worldwide box-office, a figure matched by the superior 2018 sequel.
Since giving up his life as a government assassin, Robert McCall (Denzel Washington) has struggled to reconcile the horrific things he’s done in the past and finds a strange solace in serving justice on behalf of the oppressed. Finding himself surprisingly at home in Southern Italy, he discovers his new friends are under the control of local crime bosses. As events turn deadly, McCall knows what he has to do: become his friends’ protector by taking on the mafia.
The Equalizer 3 is in cinemas this September.
