Bryan Cranston updates fans on possible Malcolm in the Middle revival

June 28, 2023 by EJ Moreno

After retiring from Breaking Bad, it seems like Bryan Cranston wants to revisit another one of his classic series and Cranston has recently given fans an update on the progress of more Malcolm in the Middle.

Appearing as a guest on Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live, the actor opened up about venturing back into the Malcolm world. There seems to be some movement on the front of a potential revival.

“Yes, I would say that on a scale of 1-10, I’d say an 8 that we’ll do a reunion, movie, or show or something, and yes, we have been working on concepts of story, plots, and things like that,” says Cranston.

Alongside lead star Frankie Muniz, the cast included Jane Kaczmarek and Cranston as Malcolm’s parents. Rounding out the cast were Christopher Kennedy Masterson, Justin Berfield, and Erik Per Sullivan as Malcolm’s brothers.

Malcolm in the Middle would win 7 Primetime Emmys during its run, with an impressive 33 nominations. It would live on as a fan-favorite series, just above a cult classic, but not something on par with Friends. Marvel Studios’ WandaVision did pay homage to the series when it ventured back in sitcom history and stopped in the mid-00s for a Malcolm in the Middle inspired-style.

Cranston’s talk of a revival comes after star Frank Muniz said he “would be down 100 percent” for it and even hinted that Bryan Cranston could be writing the story himself.

Malcolm in the Middle aired on Fox from January 9, 2000, and ended on May 14, 2006, after seven seasons and 151 episodes.
