Prey director Dan Trachtenberg attached to Stranger Things Season 5

June 29, 2023 by EJ Moreno

Production for Stranger Things 5 is currently on hiatus, but that hasn’t stopped from landing a fresh new filmmaker for the series.

Netflix revealed that Dan Trachtenberg had joined Stranger Things as a director. He’ll join a small but impactful list of filmmakers who have ventured into the wild world of the Upside Down.

For those who don’t know, Trachtenberg is best known for his work on The Boys, helming the iconic season premiere. He’s also directed two successful follow-ups to popular IPs, including 10 Cloverfield Lane and 2022’s underrated Predator entry titled Prey. He is arguably a surefire pick for a filmmaker who understands what fans want while delivering something fresh and unique.

Trachtenberg’s hiring comes not long after 80s icon Linda Hamilton joined the upcoming fifth season. No word on if she’ll appear in the episodes helmed by Trachtenberg or if she’ll play a villain or hero in the series.

This upcoming fifth Stranger Things entry is the final season of the beloved Netflix series, marking the closing act of a story that began in 2016. The fourth season was the most streamed series of 2022 and launched the show into an even higher stratosphere than ever before. With Hollywood directors, a budding cast, and actors’ hype, they are hoping to end this with a bang.

At the time of writing, there’s no set release for Stranger Things‘ final season, given the ongoing WGA strike.
