Emma Corrin teases upcoming villain role in Deadpool 3

August 2, 2023 by EJ Moreno

Deadpool 3 is shaping up to be quite the superhero event film, and we know any good comic book adaptation needs a strong villain.

Speaking to Empire in an interview before the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, Emma Corrin unleashed onto the world that they are not only starring in Deadpool 3 but will serve as a baddie to face off against the Merc with a Mouth, confirming what many have suspected: “I feel really excited to play a villain. I haven’t done that, and it’s an itch I want to scratch,” says the actress.

Like most MCU projects, things are being held close to the Marvel chest, with Corrin barely knowing what’s happening. They note, “I’d heard about the project, but, classic Marvel, they couldn’t tell me anything about it. Absolutely nothing. Zilch. So I met [director Shawn Levy] being like, ‘I don’t know what this is about.'”

Corrin also kept it honest with fans and the filmmakers, noting that they needed to become more familiar with Marvel and required some help with the multiverse’s inner workings: “Hands up; I’m not a Marvel person. I’ve watched Spider-Man and Black Panther. I was like, ‘Look, you’re gonna have to debrief me into this.’ It’s such an intricate world. There’s so much to it; it’s an absolute mind-fuck. All the language and the Easter eggs, and this person is related to that person who did this, and this person came back, and this person’s dead… it’s amazing.”

Since then, Emma Corrin has gained an appreciation for what Marvel does in its wild work, stating: “I really understand why it means as much as it does to so many people. It’s a phenomenon, and I feel really lucky to be part of it. Especially Deadpool, because I love the fact that it’s self-aware and critical of its own inner workings.”

As for who Emma Corrin will play, rumors have swirled she’ll play everything from a TVA agent, Lady Deadpool, or Death herself. Stay tuned to Flickering Myth for more news on their role.

Deadpool 3 will be directed by Shawn Levy (Free Guy) and stars Reynolds alongside Deadpool veterans Stefan Kapacic (Colossus), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa), Karan Soni (Dopinder), Leslie Uggams (Blind Al), Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio) and Rob Delaney (Peter) as well as Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Jennifer Garner as Elektra and new additions Matthew Macfadyen (Succession) and Emma Corrin (The Crown) in as yet unspecified roles.

Deadpool 3 will be released May 3rd, 2024.
