Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin features revealed in new trailer

September 17, 2023 by Andrew Newton

Frontier Developments’ latest trailer for the upcoming real-time strategy Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin reveals a wide range of features that will be available to players when the game launches on 17th November.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin takes players to the world of Warhammer: Age of Sigmar, where they will take control of one of four factions, including Stormcast Eternals, Nighthaunt and Orruk Kruleboyz (the final faction is still to be unveiled), through an epic character driven campaign co-written by Black Library writer Gav Thorpe.

Players will be able to dive straight into 1v1 and 2v2 cross platform multiplayer battles where they will be able to climb a competitive ladder, multiplayer matches can include any mixes of human and AI opponents. For those who prefer to play solo, there will be an extended single player experience where they will battle across a procedurally generated landscape towards the final enemy.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin features a wealth of creative options for players, including:

A Map Editor where players can construct their own multiplayer map, choosing and shaping terrain and placing a variety of foliage, water, objectives etc.  These can then be shared with others using a cross-platform in-game Workshop.

An Army Livery editor allows players to customise their army using the same colour palette as is available in Games Workshop’s very own Citadel paint range.  As well as the option to create a unique livery there will also be official Games Workshop paint schemes available.

A feature not directly associated with battle is the Scene Editor. This editor allows players to create dioramas by posing characters in curated and shareable snapshots of the battle for Ghur. Players will be able to display their own army’s livery and adjust individual frames of animation to ensure every detail is just right.  Once the perfect image has been achieved it can be shared with the world.

There’s plenty of opportunities for creativity, just as there are with the physical models thanks to Frontier’s commitment to delivering the ultimate Warhammer Age of Sigmar real-time strategy.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin will be released on 17th November for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, Xbox Series X/S and Playstation 5.
