Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 features post-credit scene that hints at a third installment

September 26, 2023 by EJ Moreno

With the release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 just around the corner, fans of the hit video game are already awaiting the franchise’s future.

What is likely to be a video game on par with what came before it, the latest game is already massively anticipated, but the game’s director, Ben Arfmann, gave us even more to sink our teeth into.

At first, Arfmann doesn’t give away too much.

He tells the outlet, “I mean, I would love to be able to talk about that. We love this game and are so excited about this game. I’m really hoping that fans love it in the same way that we do. And we’re going to be so lucky to get to tell more stories. [But], for right now, I think what we can talk about is the game that comes out October 20.”

Later, though, Arfmann is joined by advanced senior writer Lauren Mee and director of community & marketing James Stevenson; that’s when fans get a tease at what lies ahead for them.

Mee states, “Well, the dream is that you finish the game and go Holy s—. I need more of this’,” then Stevenson adds, “Maybe there’s a post-credits scene.” Arfmann joins in on the tease, concluding, “Yeah, it’s definitely a Marvel experience.”

So, fans will need to play the game and stay through the entire credits (much like watching a Marvel Studios movie) to be rewarded with a bonus clip that will likely tease the future of the Spider-Man games.

The previous two games included post-credit scenes; the first saw Miles showing Peter his new spider powers and Norman Osborn watching his ill son Harry, who is in a giant glass tank. The second game, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, saw Norman Osborn order a reluctant Curt Connors to release his terminally ill son Harry from stasis. Could we get more of the twisted Osborn family in this teaser? Only time will tell.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be available for the PS5 on Wednesday, October 20th. Check out the trailer below…

The Spider-Men, Peter Parker and Miles Morales enter new chapters in their lives as they balance their responsibilities as protectors of Marvel’s New York. As Harry Osborn, Peter’s best friend, returns into his life, and Miles looks to build his future beyond high school, the relationship between our heroes is tested and strained as the Symbiote appears to threaten them, the city, and the ones they love.

Developed by Insomniac Games in collaboration with Marvel Games and PlayStation, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 continues the saga of the critically acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise.
