A24’s Death of a Unicorne reveals full cast including Paul Rudd, Jenna Ortega, Richard E. Grant and more

November 1, 2023 by Ricky Church

A24 has announced the full cast for its upcoming film Death of a Unicorne with Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Jenna Ortega (Wednesday) and Richard E. Grant (Saltburn) leading. Writer and producer Alex Scharfman (Resurrection) will be making her directorial debut on the film.

Death of a Unicorne focuses on “a father (Rudd) and daughter (Ortega) who accidentally hit and kill a unicorn while en route to a weekend retreat, where the former’s billionaire boss (Grant) seeks to exploit the creature’s miraculous curative properties.”

Starring alongside the trio are Téa Leoni (Madam Secretary), Will Poulter (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3), Anthony Carrigan (Barry), Sunita Mani (GLOW), Jessica Hynes (Paddington 2) and Stephen Park (Asteroid City).

Death of a Unicorne was shot over the summer and has wrapped production after A24 gained a SAG-AFTRA interim agreement during the ongoing actors strike. A24 and Ley Line Entertainment co-financed and the former studio will distribute the film worldwide.

Scharfman will produce the film through her company Secret Engines alongside Drew Houpt and Lucas Joaquin, Square Peg’s Tyler Campellone and Lars Knudsen, and Ley Line’s Tim Headington and Theresa Steele Page. In a real boon for the film too, legendary horror director and composer John Carpenter is composing the film’s score with his son Cody Carpenter and Daviel Davies. Larry Fong (Kong: Skull Island) was the cinematographer.

There is no word on when Death of a Unicorne will be released.
