Vinnie Jones ditches Santa for World of Tanks holiday event

November 24, 2023 by Olly Dyche

The World of Tanks franchise continues its annual tradition by celebrating the winter holidays with its community. Previously, gamers have been able to play special events and complete exclusive missions in order to unlock special holiday themed cosmetics and rewards. This year’s “Holiday Ops” offers more holiday themed rewards, events, and missions, but this time footballer turned actor Vinnie Jones, lends his tough-guy persona to the World of Tanks franchise, enhancing the explosive on-screen action.

Vinnie Jones has been working covertly as Santa’s enforcer, dealing with those who found themselves on the “naughty list”. However, this year Vinnie isn’t here to give the gift of punishment but to submit his resignation letter to Santa. He is leaving his post to seek a new opportunity: becoming a commander in World of Tanks. But not before he and his crew knock out one last “naughty list”.

Vinnie Jones is perhaps most recognisable for his extensive football career, as well as starring in movies like Snatch, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, and X-Men: The Last Stand. This year, he brings his tough-guy demeanor to World of Tanks assigning challenges and quests for the most focused and festive of players. Successfully completing these missions will reward players with themed customization items such as celebrity-inspired tank skins, emblems, inscriptions, decals, medals, unique decorations, avatars, and more. While Jones is providing his likeness, players will be happy to know that he will also be lending his iconic gruff voice, supporting tankers in battle.

The World of Tanks franchise has been doing special holiday themed events, since 2017, with the 2021 holiday event featuring the likeness of martial arts legend, Chuck Norris. So if you loved that year’s event, you’re sure to enjoy this year’s too. Check out the trailer here…

The Vinnie Jones-centered holiday event comes to World of Tanks, World of Tanks Blitz, and World of Tanks: Modern Armor, on December 1st across all platforms.
