Alita: Battle Angel producer confirms the sequel is still in development

November 30, 2023 by EJ Moreno

Following the release of Alita: Battle Angel, a sequel has been teased by all the filmmakers involved on numerous occasions, and now producer Jon Landau has given fans a little more hope for a second movie.

Speaking to Screen Rant, Landau confirms the sequel is still happening and remains in development under himself, James Cameron, and director Robert Rodriguez.

“Yes, I just answered that I knew before you even got there. I’m very proud of that film, and we were doing it concurrently with Avatar. I was down with Robert on the set doing all that, and Jim was involved, too, and saw it,” said Landau.

He adds, “It came on HBO one night, and Jim watched it and called me after he watched it. He said, ‘Jon, Alita was on; I just decided to watch it. It’s a good movie.’ (laughs) And it is! So, I want to be able to definitely do more in that world.”
