George Clooney says his and Brad Pitt’s Wolfs is “like an R rated Ocean’s”

January 5, 2024 by Ricky Church

George Clooney and Brad Pitt are two of Hollywood’s biggest names who have worked several times together throughout their career. The duo are set to team up once again for Jon Watts’ action thriller Wolfs.

Wolfs features Clooney and Pitt as “professional ‘fixers’ who find themselves hired for the same job.” The cast also includes Amy Ryan (Beau is Afraid), Austin Abrams (Euphoria) and Poorna Jagannathan (Never Have I Ever). Watts, who directed the three Tom Holland Spider-Man films for Marvel, wrote the script for Wolfs and produces alongside Clooney, Pitt, Grant Heslov, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner and Dianne McGunigle.

In an interview with Total Film, Clooney revealed a bit more detail surrounding Wolfs and how it is much darker and edgier than their past films, which includes the three Ocean’s films from Steven Soderbergh and the Coen Brothers’ Burn After Reading. He also revealed the first details about his character who seems to be going through some midlife crisis and what it means for his career as a fixer.

“He’s a sad, sad guy. He’s angry. He’s getting old. He’s turning 60 in a couple of weeks. It’s all downhill for him after that,” Clooney said. “Uh… It’s a really good movie. I love this guy, Jon Watts. What a director. It’s out there. We just did a screening of it, and the place kind of went batshit for it. So, we’re excited about it. We think it’s a really fun, dark – very dark – nutty film… It feels like an R-rated Ocean’s film.”

Wolfs started filming in January 2023, but had to be suspended a few months later due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. Based on Clooney’s comments, it seems production has been fully completed and Sony has a current release date for September 20, 2024.
