Matthew Vaughn says Deadpool 3 will “save the whole Marvel universe”

January 31, 2024 by EJ Moreno

One thing Matthew Vaughn knows is how to craft a solid X-Men film. With X-Men: First Class under his belt, the director is a voice to trust when it comes to the mutants, and his praise for Deadpool 3 should give us hope.

During a recent episode of BroBible Post-Cred Podcast, Vaughn spoke about what he’s seen of the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe project, and he has high praise for what Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are cooking up.

The filmmaker says, “The few snippets that I know about ‘Deadpool vs. Wolverine’ – or ‘Wolverine vs. Deadpool,’ I’m sure that argument between Ryan and Hugh is happening as we speak – are unbelievable.”

He adds, “That’s going to be the jolt… the Marvel universe is about to have a jolt of them, and it’s going to bring that body back to life… I think Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are about to save the whole Marvel universe.”

As for the X-Men moving away from the Fox era, Vaughn says he’s excited to see what the MCU can do. He notes, “I’m a genuine fan of the X-Men; all I want is for the movies to be as good as they should be.”

Vaughn is currently promoting Argylle, the new spy comedy hitting cinemas this week. You can read our written review here, and watch our video review below…

Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World franchise) is Elly Conway, the reclusive author of a series of best-selling espionage novels, whose idea of bliss is a night at home with her computer and her cat, Alfie. But when the plots of Elly’s fictional books—which center on secret agent Argylle and his mission to unravel a global spy syndicate—begin to mirror the covert actions of a real-life spy organization, quiet evenings at home become a thing of the past.

Argylle‘s ensemble cast includes Bryce Dallas-Howard (Jurassic World), Henry Cavill (The Witcher), Sam Rockwell (Vice), Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), Dua Lipa (Barbie), John Cena (Peacemaker), Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek), Samuel L. Jackson (The Hitman’s Bodyguard), Ariana DeBose (The Prom) and Rob Delaney (Deadpool 2).

Argylle arrives in cinemas on February 2nd.
