Hitchcock’s Rear Window heading to Peacock with new Kevin Williamson series

February 10, 2024 by EJ Moreno

Alfred Hitchcock’s work is not untouchable, and we’re seeing that once again with Universal Television cooking up a small-screen take on one of his most iconic films.

Deadline broke the story that the iconic and prolific TV and film writer-creator Kevin Williamson is crafting a series reimagining the Alfred Hitchcock classic Rear Window. This marks one of four projects Williamson is developing under his Outerbanks Entertainment production banner.

“Kevin is a prolific and brilliant creator with a proven track record of producing iconic hits for both the big and small screen,” said Erin Underhill, President of Universal Television. “He’s a trusted collaborator whose imagination is boundless and inspiring. We love our creative partnership with Kevin and his terrific team at Outerbanks. We think fans will love everything they are cooking up.”

Williamson is best known for penning Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer. Deadline notes that the creator will write the reimagining, which Davis Entertainment’s John Davis and John Fox executive produce alongside Williamson, Fast, and MKT Productions.

Rear Window received four Academy Award nominations and was ranked number 42 on AFI’s 100 Years…100 Movies list. In 1997, it was added to the United States National Film Registry in the Library of Congress as being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.

There’s no timeline set for this Peacock streaming take on Rear Window.
