Video Review – Mary & George is a shocking must-see historical drama

February 29, 2024 by EJ Moreno

EJ Moreno with a video review of Mary & George…

2024 gets its first scandalous television series with Mary & George, the historical drama starring Julianne Moore and Nicholas Galitzine.

From revenge schemes to plotting chaotic romances, the upcoming Sky Atlantic & Starz show will leave you shocked in each episode. Join critic EJ Moreno for a look at the first three episodes of Mary & George.

Check out the review below, and be sure to follow us on YouTube for more reviews, exclusive interviews, and other video content…

Julianne Moore stars as Mary Villiers, a woman of humble beginnings and formidable ambition who moulded her second son, George (Nicholas Galitzine), to seduce King James VI of Scotland and I of England (Tony Curran) and become his all-powerful lover.

Always the smartest person in the room, Mary was never able to realise her full potential until she spots an opportunity to take advantage of the King’s voracious appetite for fine wine, fine company and fine men. George, naïvely beautiful and charismatic, is thrust into the spotlight as his mother masterminds their pursuit of the King. Through audacious scheming and seduction, Mary and George claw their way to the centre of Court to become the most powerful family in England. But as George grows in power, his relationship with his mother will be pushed to the very limits. George must prove to himself that he can be defined by more than just his beauty. He must make his mark on history, no matter the consequences.

Joining Julianne Moore, Nicholas Galitzine and Tony Curran in the cast are Nicola Walker, Niamh Algar, Trine Dyrholm, Sean Gilder, Adrian Rawlins, Mark O’Halloran, Laurie Davidson, Samuel Blenkin, Jacob McCarthy, Tom Victor, Alice Grant, Amelia Gething, Mirren Mack, Rina Mahoney, and Simon Russell Beale.

Mary & George premieres on Sky Atlantic and NOW on March 5th and on Starz on April 5th.
