Pamela Anderson-led The Last Showgirl heading to Cannes

May 2, 2024 by EJ Moreno

Pamela Anderon is beginning her comeback. First, she joined The Naked Gun reboot, and now her starring indie effort is heading to Cannes for sale.

Per Deadline, Goodfellas and Utopia are teaming up for a co-sell deal on Gia Coppola’s The Last Showgirl. The film stars Pamela Anderson as a veteran Las Vegas showgirl reinventing her life.

Anderson plays a seasoned showgirl who must plan for her future when her show abruptly closes after a 30-year run. As a dancer in her fifties, she struggles with what to do next. As a mother, she strives to repair a strained relationship with her daughter, who often took a backseat to her showgirl family.

The Last Showgirl also boasts a strong supporting cast, including Jamie Lee Curtis, Dave Bautista, Brenda Song, Kiernan Shipka, and Billie Lourd.

Coppola helmed the project, which was based on Kate Gersten’s screenplay. Autumn Durald Arkapaw provided cinematography, while Andrew Wyatt wrote the original music.

“We are thrilled to kick off foreign sales for Gia Coppola’s upcoming film, The Last Showgirl. This is exactly the type of title that distributors should be looking for: a compelling directorial voice, a stellar cast, and strong theatrical potential,” Goodfellas Head of Sales Eva Diederix and Utopia VP of Sales Marie Zeniter tells Deadline.

Adding, “Combined with a captivating narrative, this film embodies the strength, resilience, and creativity of female voices in independent cinema. Pamela’s performance shows a very different side of her, adding depth to the iconic Las Vegas showgirl. As we embark on this journey, we can’t wait for audiences worldwide to experience the magic of this film.”

Gia Coppola’s The Last Showgirl is currently in post-production.
