Tom Baker back for more Doctor Who – The Fourth Doctor Adventures in September

May 12, 2024 by Andrew Newton

Tom Baker returns for more adventures this September in Doctor Who – The Fourth Doctor Adventures: Dominant Species, a new full cast audio drama from Big Finish.  In this upcoming audio drama, the Fourth Doctor faces the Dominators and the Quarks, a violent race of augmented humanoids and their robot servants that were first encountered by the Second Doctor in the 1968 TV series, The Dominators.

Doctor Who – The Fourth Doctor Adventures: Dominant Species features two new adventures for the Fourth Doctor (played by Tom Baker), Harry Sullivan (Christopher Naylor) and Naomi Cross (Eleanor Crooks).  These new adventures are:

The Face in the Storm by Sarah Grochala – The TARDIS takes the trio back to 1916 and lands in the cargo hold to the SS Maycrest troop transporter. As the Fourth Doctor soon discovers, it isn’t just troops being transported across the Atlantic, there’s also an unnaturally cold crate in the hold. But as the Doctor and his companions soon find out, this is not the ship’s biggest secret or it’s deadliest threat. This voyage also gives Eleanor a chance to explore some of her ancestry.

Dominant Species by John Dorney – The Dominators, the self-proclaimed masters of the ten galaxies, and their robot servants, the Quarks, have enslaved the population of the planet Taleeria.  When the Doctor, Harry and Naomi arrive it’s only expected that they will thwart the antagonist’s plans, but when the three are separated it seems like the threat won’t be quite so easy.

From the left we have Christopher Naylor, Tom-Baker and Eleanor-Crooks

Producer David Richardson said: “Naomi and Harry’s journeys with the Fourth Doctor are heading to their end – we know where they go next, but how do they get there? Dominant Species throws danger and secrets from the past at the two companions, as destiny awaits on the planet Taleeria.”

Doctor Who – The Fourth Doctor Adventures: Dominant Species is available to pre-order now as a special 3 disc collector’s edition with digital download for £19.99, or as a digital download only for £16.99. Doctor Who – The Fourth Doctor Adventures: Dominant Species will conclude series 13 of The Fourth Doctor Adventures and all three box sets in this series can be pre-ordered together from the Big Finish website.
