May 16, 2024 by Amie Cranswick

As part of the television upfronts, HBO has given fans a sneak peek at the currently-in-production second season of the acclaimed video game adaptation The Last of Us with the release of a pair of images featuring Pedro Pascal’s Joel and Bella Ramsey’s Ellie; take a look here…

The Last of Us story takes place twenty years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.

The Last of Us season 2 sees the return of Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Gabriel Luna as Tommy, and Rutina Wesley as Maria alongside new cast members Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Young Mazino as Jesse, Isabela Merced as Dina, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Catherine O’Hara in an undisclosed role.

The Last of Us season 2 is coming to Max in 2025.
