Homer to answer fan questions in live segment of The Simpsons in May

February 17, 2016 by Amie Cranswick

The Simpsons showrunner Al Jean has announced that for the first time ever, the long-running animated show is set to feature a three-minute live segment where Homer Simpson will discuss topical subjects and take fan questions.

THR reports that the segment “will use a motion capture technology in which Homer’s voice and motions will be depicted in an animated scene talking about things he ‘could only be saying live on that day.'”

“As far as I know, this is the first time that’s been done by any animated show,” said Jean, added that the episode itself explores improv comedy and that “Dan Castellaneta is a great improviser.”

The live segment will feature in the May 15th episode of The Simpsons, and fans can submit their questions on Twitter between May 1st and May 4th using the hashtage #HomerLive.
