New Doctor Who: The Third Doctor audio adventure coming this October

June 21, 2024 by Andrew Newton

There’s a new adventure coming for the Third Doctor as Big Finish Productions announces Doctor Who: The Third Doctor Adventures – The Quintessence will be released this coming October.  Once again, Tim Treloar takes the role of the Third Doctor and faces off against an old adversary.

The Third Doctor Adventures: The Quintessence is a new epic six-part audio drama written by Stewart Pringle and Lauren Mooney and sees the Third Doctor, along with Jo Jones nee Grant (with Katy Manning reprising her role), become involved in a gothic mystery that involves the devious cyborgs from Earth’s twin planet Mondas.

When the Doctor and Jo arrive at ‘Always’, the mysterious Victorian manor house on the distant storm-world of Nethara Reach, they are greeted by the Pepperdines, a peculiar couple worried by their ailing daughter.  It’s not long before the Doctor discovers terrible secrets hiding within the polished panelled walls and the strange, gruesome oil paintings.  These secrets will lead the Doctor to one of his oldest and relentless enemies and test his relationship with Jo.

Tim Treloar and Katy Manning are joined by Chris Larkin (Outlander) as Arthur Pepperdine, Emily Joyce (My Hero) as Lucy Pepperdine, Felicity Cant as Emmeline Pepperdine, Gary Turner (Emmerdale) as Drexel and Nicholas Briggs as the Cybermen.

Producer Heather Challands said: “This production has me very excited. Not only do we have the return of Katy Manning as the amazing Jo Jones alongside Tim as the Doctor, but we also have the Mondasian Cybermen. Stewart and Lauren have written a terrifying, gothic script that goes from a Victorian House on an alien wasteland to the depths of Mondas. The Doctor and Jo come across the Pepperdine family, who are hiding quite a few secrets, but even they don’t know the true extent of the danger they are in.”

Doctor Who: The Third Doctor Adventures – The Quintessence is available to preorder now from the Big Finish website as a collector’s edition CD Box Set (with digital download) for £22.99 or digital download only for £18.99.
