The Boys promo pokes fun at season 4 review bombing

June 24, 2024 by EJ Moreno

If The Boys can be counted on for one thing, they’ll mock you straight to your face. We all know that, right?

As the latest season of the hit Prime Video series is facing backlash from the conservative fanbase, it’s also a coincidence the series is facing its lowest audience score yet.

This season’s Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes sits at around 51%; for comparison, Season 3 earned 75% on the site. Another coincidence is the influx of newer reviews in the past seasons, bringing down the scores.

While the two things may not be correlated, the team behind The Boys is undoubtedly aware of what’s happening online. This is called review bombing, and as a way to comment on the growing discourse, Amazon has released a new satirical Vought Industries commercial poking fun at it.

Vought CEO Ashley Barrett (Colby Minifie) hosts a promo in which she ushers in BROWSER, a “new era of Internet privacy” from the fictional company at the center of the series. They promise a service that allows such security online that you’ll be back to “review bombing woke TV shows in no time!”

If you’re digging this meta viral marketing, you can see the fourth season, The Boys, debuting weekly episodes through July 18th.

Check out the promo below…

Vought is proud to usher in a new era of Internet privacy. Together with @operagxofficial, we’ve built BROWSER by Vought. What it lacks in branding creativity, it makes up for in speed and security. Download it today and you’ll be review bombing woke TV shows in no time! pic.twitter.com/AAgtZsWiTw

The Boys is a fun and irreverent take on what happens when superheroes—who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians, and as revered as gods—abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. Intent on stopping the corrupt superheroes, The Boys, a group of vigilantes, continue their heroic quest to expose the truth about The Seven and Vought—the multibillion-dollar conglomerate that manages the superheroes and covers up their dirty secrets. It’s the seemingly powerless against the super powerful.

The Boys stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit, and Cameron Crovetti. Season Four welcomes back Simon Pegg, and adds Susan Heyward, Valorie Curry, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan to the cast.

The Boys is streaming now on Prime Video.
